What helps us before we arrive
Nothing is required. If you have them, these make the first visit more productive: roughly what year the house was built, whether it is slab or pier and beam if you know, where the cracking is and which elevation of the house it faces, how long you have noticed it, whether it seems to change between summer and spring, and any photographs from a year or two ago. A dated old photograph showing a crack narrower than it is today is one of the genuinely useful things a homeowner can produce.
What happens on the visit
We take elevation readings room by room on a rotating laser, walk the exterior and the drainage, look at the crawl space if there is one, and check for the water sources that imitate soil movement. You get the readings, our view of the cause, and a recommendation — work now, monitor through a season, or nothing needed. Where there is a scope, it is itemized and written so you can compare it with anyone else's.
Already been given a quote? Bring it. We will survey the house independently and then go through the other proposal with you — pier count, method, restoration and what the warranty actually covers. Sometimes we conclude it is the right scope, and we will say so.
